Bemidji Woolen Mills Turns 100 Years Old

Minnesota is rich with hundreds of family businesses, dozens of which have lasted more than two generations. Bemidji Woolen Mills is a fourth-generation family business that on Oct. 9 turned 100 years old. The Duluth News Tribune just published this interesting story about its history.

Other family businesses that are 100 years or older in Minnesota includes Marvin Windows and Doors of Warroad, MN.  In 2012, when it turned 100, I enjoyed touring its headquarters facility, interviewing then-president Susan Marvin and producing the script for this video shown during that year’s Minnesota Family Business Award for resiliency. Four years later we again awarded them for legacy as they geared up to transition to the fifth generation.
